Ant’s Hill is a luxurious and extraordinary bush lodge, which is situated within a private wild reserve in the malaria-free Waterberg area. From Johannesburg you can reach the lodge in about three hours driving.
The owners, Ant and Tessa Baber, do their best to create a personal and exclusive atmosphere. The aim of their concept is to offer a truly unique and personalized bush- and wilderness experience. The broad range of activities guarantees that all guests – from the infant to the best-ager – have a first-class African experience. A beloved specialty of the Babers is their famous horseback safari.
The reserve has been set up to ensure the conservation of the plants and animals in this wonderful region. Apart from warthogs, giraffes, zebras, gnus and white rhinos there are many different antilope species, such as the scimitar-horned oryx, the nyala, the oryx and the Livingstone-eland. Altogether there are 40 wild animal- and more than 300 bird species, which can be observed in the vicinity of the lodge. Of course there are also game-drives in safari vehicles.
Ant’s Hill has a typical lodge character and is situated close to a waterfall. From here you have a wonderful view over the entire Waterberg region. The personnel of Ant’s Hill are a wonderful team, who create an open and hearty atmosphere. The lodge is situated on the crest of a rock and provides a breathtaking view of the picturesque landscape. With its spacious, airy rooms and the thatched roof the lodge fits perfectly in the surrounding landscape. Exotic furnishings and colourful African fabrics create a very special ambience, which offers both, an unusual elegance and utmost comfort. The large canopy beds and the unique bathrooms are delightful. Moreover, there is a heated swimming pool in front of the lodge. It is situated directly on the edge of the hill with water flowing over the edge into a canyon. It is a wonderful, relaxing place, which invites to stay for hours.
Ant’s Hill accommodates up to 12 people. It is a perfect hideaway for a group of four to five couples or for two families, who travel together.
The lodge is also a paradise for children. Children of all ages are welcome here. They can either accompany their parents on their activities or they experience the bush on their own accounts. A stay in this wonderful bush domicile will be a life-changing experience.
