Ant’s Nest is a luxurious and extraordinary bush lodge, which is situated within a private wild reserve in the malaria-free Waterberg area. From Johannesburg you can reach the lodge in about three hours driving. The owners, Ant and Tessa Baber, do their best to create a personal and exclusive atmosphere. The aim of their concept is to offer a truly unique and personalized bush- and wilderness experience. The broad range of activities guarantees that all guests – from the infant to the best-ager – have a first-class African experience. A beloved specialty of the Babers is their famous horseback safari.
The reserve has been set up to ensure the conservation of the plants and animals in this wonderful region. Apart from warthogs, giraffes, zebras, gnus and white rhinos there are many different antilope species, such as the scimitar-horned oryx, the nyala, the oryx and the Livingstone-eland. Altogether there are 40 wild animal- and more than 300 bird species, which can be observed in the vicinity of the lodge. Of course there are also game-drives in safari vehicles.
Ant’s Nest used to be an old farm building, which has been rebuilt into a wonderful guest house. In this paradise, which is also ideal for children, you can enjoy the warm hospitality of Tessa and Ant. Situated in a natural amphitheatre, the former farmhouse with its spacious veranda creates a classical African atmosphere. The luxuriously furnished En-suite bedroom accommodates a maximum number of 10 guests. Tessa, who was raised in Kenya has furnished the villa from the colonial era with furniture and decors of natural materials and has created a warm and comfortable atmosphere. A refreshing swimming pool in the garden is surrounded by a well-manicured lawn and pretty flower beds. The watering hole in front of the villa frequented by numerous wild animals.
Ant’s Nest is truly a paradise for children. Children of all ages are welcome here. They can either accompany their parents on their activities or they experience the bush on their own accounts.
